An 8.5-metre aluminium hybrid sloop
The AluShip E-Sloep 850 is the one boat in the E-Sloep range the builder badges as hybrid rather than electric — worth knowing, because a hybrid gives up the two things that make an electric sloop useful on a hire fleet: silence, and access to water where combustion engines are not allowed.
The numbers
8.5 m long, 3.25 m in the beam, 1755 kg, drawing 0.70 m with an air draught of 1.70 m. Certified for 12 people, CE design category C. Drive is offered across an 8 to 18 kW band and settled in the builder's configurator, so battery capacity, speed and range are not published as figures and are left out rather than estimated. From €62,950 including 21% Dutch VAT.
The builder
AluShip cuts and welds its own 5083-grade aluminium hulls in Steenwijk, the Netherlands. The fully electric sizes either side of this one are the 800 and the 950.
